Radical Praise Mime

We had the awesome privilege of interviewing someone who does a unique form of worship for our God. This interview has blessed me because I can see God's heart and His desire to be worshiped by His most prized creation.

My name Reginald Henderson and I am a Christian who loves to glorify the Lord through dance and speech. Husband to my lovely wife Melissa.  I work at Tennessee Regular Baptist Bookstore (If you need a Bible or a book hit me up lol) and I'm also a Youth Mentor for an organization called The Ark. I'm grateful to be used by the Lord and adequately represent Him daily.

Q: Can you remember the day God called you? What was that like? What was your immediate response?

I can't remember the day but I know that it was in the latter part of 2015. When the Lord called me to start a dance ministry. I was scared but also humbled. My response to the call was YES Lord I'm willing and able to do what you have called me to do.

Q: When did you answer the call and what was the process like for you to start?

I accepted the call in January 2016. The process was challenging as I expected (from selecting a name, bible verse, and so on). I kept seeking the Lord on the direction He wanted me to go and one day I heard the Lord say, "Radical Praise Mime", and the scripture He gave me was Psalms 86:12, "I will praise you, Lord my God, with all of my heart; I will glorify your name forever." When I'm before people I want to give them a clear picture of who Jesus is. I do that by glorifying and praising Him in a radical way.

Q: Did you share with others? How did they react to the call on your life? What impact did their responses have on you?

I shared it with my wife, (she was my girlfriend at the time), my dance ministry leader Pamela Webster, and my mentor Eric Ballentine. Their reaction was very awesome!! They were encouraging me and telling me to go for it. It's awesome to receive positive feedback.

Q: If you feel comfortable, can you share something that distracts you from your purpose? What helps you overcome distractions?

People pleasing can distract you from your purpose. Who doesn't want to be accepted by people? But it's a problem when we strive to live for people's approval, so you'll do things that doesn't fit you just to be cool or accepted. Lecrae said it best, "If you live for people's acceptance you'll die from their rejection."

Q: In what ways do you improve your craft?

Practice. Practice. Practice. You get out what you put in. Asking for advice from different dancers and also getting to know the God that I'm dancing for.

Q: What else do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy reading, listening to music, working out, playing basketball, and spending time with my family.

Q: How does it make you feel being who God has called you to be?

It's very overwhelming. If it wasn't for the Lord where would I be? I'm not perfect but I'm perfecting and strive daily to be all that He has called me to be.

To the person whose reading this I pray that this interview has blessed you. Always seek the Lord in everything you do (Matthew 6:33) and know that you are made for greatness. God has created you on purpose and for a purpose. He has a plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11) Don't be afraid to live your life for Jesus and doing what He has called you to do. Blessings to you.
