Worship Is More Than Music

'But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” ' John 4:23-24 AMP

God desires for us to worship in spirit and truth and not just through our outward gifts & talents. Music is a beautiful outlet and expression of our worship, but it is not the true form. Our true worship is having a heart aligned & at peace with God, then He adds to us these graces of external worship.

You can be on stage singing your heart out to the Father and not worship Him. It all depends on what He sees in your heart, something your audience can't determine. You might sound better, but their worship could be better than yours, because of the posture of the heart.

Worshiping in Spirit & truth is all internal. "God desires truth in the inward parts", says King David in Psalm 51:6. He desires a heart that longs to please & serve Him, not by works, but by the truth you believe with your heart. By the love and adornment of Him.

As mentioned, you can sing on stage and not have a heart for God. You can praise dance & not have a heart to serve Him, you can rap, write, publish, act, go to work, and not have a heart for the Lord. We worship God in everything we do. - 1 Corinthians 10:31

Do you worship God in spirit & Truth? How can you know? If your life aligns with His Word and if you seek Him diligently with all your heart. Living a life of obedience to God and bringing Him glory is worshiping in spirit & truth.
